natsu hanabi 夏花火
 Im so sorry I was not able to update yesterday. I was so late going home..and very tired too, I immediately crashed to bed. Hope you forgive me! Anyway, it is " matsuri " festival season all over japan. Meaning???, it is finally summer, hurrah! Of course with it is the popular " hanabi" or fireworks. I took this from my window last saturday. Yes, there is a small matsuri in my part of the city. I dont even have to go out to watch hanabi..hehehe! Yesterday, I went out though, thats why I was so tired. Be posting " izumi natsu ( summer ) matsuri " photos , watch out.

shopping center
This is located in front of the akita station. You see that turret looking
structure to the left??, thats the chime from my post 2 days ago. To the
right is " seibu ", a big store that sells brand name products. I dont
shop there, heheh! But I always drop by the bakery in their basement
level....to buy the best bagels in the city.

akita anime
Anime has always been part of japans pop and art culture. They are everywhere.
In this case , beautifully decorating a bus. I've always thought it funny that
the characters in japanese anime have extremely long legs and very large,
round eyes! They look exactly the opposite. Well, me too! Happy weekend!

chime
Found this accidentally yesterday near the station. I was startled to hear " matsuri " festival
music and I looked for it everywhere , not bothering to look up. It was only after I saw some
people looking up that I saw this chime. I didn't know it was up there although I 've walked
this path many times before. Anyway, its the usual attire of men during the festival here, which
would be very soon.

" Dont worry, every tunnel has an exit ! "
Thats what I say to myself everytime I pass through this tunnel. Quite scary if
you are just riding your small bicycle.

Come " aki " autumn and one part of humming road will be abundant with
red, juicy delicious " ringgo " , apples. Yup, this is in my neighborhood.
Hope you had enough rest this weekend because tomorrow you gonna tackle
work again. Not for me...Im on my " natsu yasumi "., summer vacation.

Im going to see Lord Satake who resides on a castle on top of that hill. His guards
would have seen and scrutinize me already before I even reach the gates.
They must have been watching over the city from up there !!

Like to know how I go to cyberspace, well here is my portal . Im curious
as to how other dp bloggers desk looks like. Mine, as you can see its
just a very small corner in my bedroom. Not so tidy,too. Lack of space!

a beautiful day....
Edwin from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia guessed it right. Indeed we have a beautiful,
sunny day today. Enjoyed riding my bicycle to work.
Next week and Im already on my summer break from school.I know I havent been visiting

Kids enjoying the time when rain stops pouring for a while....then it pours again.
Akita is holding on while some other parts of Japan suffers from landslides ,
mudslides and rivers overflowing. ( I've seen on the news)
I hope those clouds clear out very soon. I miss the blue skies!

Saw this at a principals office . What can I say? Even simple white paper can become
like this beautiful piece of art for japanese people. This art is called " origami ". Me?

waiting for dinner
Wanted to eat something different tonight. Had a serious discussion
with hubby and finally we decided to have " champong ".
It is a noodle dish originally form Nagazaki Prefecture. The noodles are
straight unlike common ramen and thicker too. It was very good!

Took this a few days back when the sky cleared for a while and the moon became

bye...sensei !!
My pupils waving me goodbye! I took 3 buses just to get to this school, on the
edges of the city. Nice school, nice teachers and well, nice kids. Grades 1 & 2
combined didnt even reach 40 students. So are the other levels. So I held classes for
grades 1 to 6 in just three hours. That was easy though, another foreign teacher
joined me.
Oh by the way sensei is teacher !!

yoroi 『 鎧 』
First of all sorry for not posting yesterday. I could not connect to he internet. Had me
worried if I pushed buttons I shouldnt have, you see my pc is in japanese.Almost all of the
software installed are japanese too. But its ok now! (thanks goodness)
This is what greeted me in one of the schools I've been to lately. This is a " yoroi " , or
armour. War lords and samurai of long ago wore when they went to battle. I was spooked
but thought I'd share this with you.

blue ajisai 紫陽花
Good afternoon folks. Hows your day so far? Moi...? Tired...very. From teaching,playing
with a bunch of 2nd graders. And because I took the bicycle. Intended to take many pics
but the heat got to me. Very,very hot day !
I came upon this beautiful flowers, so Im sorry if Im posting flowers again. They are blooming

Welcome to Akita., say's our mascot "sugichi ". He is everywhere! It is because Akita is
getting ready for the "2007 waga sugi taikai ", a national sports festival that will be held
here in Akita Prefecture. Some of the games will be held here in the city, I dont know
which! Hope I can see some games! Anyway, this was taken at the station, early
morning on my way to work.

a beautiful saturday
I had a very happy day today ! Hubby and me went " model house watching " , window shopping and just driving around the city. And the thing that cheered me up most today is because we had a very sunny day. The sky was very clear and beautiful I could see the moon. Of course this was taken around 6 pm. There it is above the second-hand shop. Hope your saturday was great too!

ferocious beasts..
...at least thats how they look like to me. I've got a vivid imagination. There are a few of
this machines around the city, meaning we have some natural gas resources. Some
yeah but not enough to support the whole city. Japan implemented the " cool biz " idea
since last year. Asking people to wear comfortable clothes for summer even inside the office.
It was considered disrespectful not to wear necktie when wearing business suits. Now
its cool and " dandy ". And the government strongly suggests that aircon temperatures be not less than 28 degrees. Hope people obey !!

I endured the curious stares of some passersby . Imagine
me with my big bag hanging on my left shoulder, an umbrella on the left hand,
a grocery bag on the right and at the same time taking pictures! It was difficult
to steady my arms coz of my heavy load so forgive my photo.Its not giving
justice to the beauty that stopped me on the way home from work!!

the locals...
I went to visit my 2 favorite babies today. Maya , the girl and Taku the baby boy who salivate
a lot. Gross, but forgivable ! Playing, talking and cuddling them cheered me up. Thanks !
They were made and born here in Akita so I assume they can grace my city dp. Plus the fact that I wanted to introduce them .

on a dark and cloudy day...
At least the rain stopped today. Some parts of the city are flooded, said the news and some
families have to be evacuated too. Dont worry my friends Im okay, aside from being a
little depressed. You see, Im a sun person and I get a little down if papa sun doesnt show.
I know he was there, hiding behind those thick , not fluffy looking clouds. Oh pls. sun come
out , just for one day and then you can hide again!! That is a restaurant by the way, called
" nambu yashiki ", which means south house .

the proper way...
Ladies, if you are planning to visit Japan I would like to remind you that although
they have developed a hi-tech toilet lately there are still places with the old japanese
type of toilets. Mostly all schools I go to have the old toilets plus 1 western type.
Im very uncomfortable with the old toilets especially if your rear is facing the door,
which is almost always the case. Found this the last school I've been too.

 Another shot of akita station area, this time on a rainy day. There is a used-clothing
store on the left and there is a pachinko ( slot machines, gamble place ) on the center of the photo. Interestingly, the loan sharks are on that other building to the right. Gamblers
and loan sharks...they need each other !

rainy days...2
My in-laws love plants. They have a vegetable garden which I also enjoy the
harvest. And then mom in-law has many flowering plants scattered around her
house. Since we visited them yesterday and I had no other extra photos, I
went outside to take some even if it was raining. Have a nice weekend everyone !
